“Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospers.” 3 John 1:2 KJV
How is your life? Is it in balance or out of control? In a poem by Langston Hughes, from
a mother to her son, “life for me ain’t been no crystal stare. It’s had tacks in it and
splinters.” Perhaps many of you today share the same sentiments – life is up one minute and down for countless minutes. Just when you’ve caught up on your mortgage, your car note falls behind. Just when your business starts making profits, your family life falls into pieces. Well, please know that intercession is being made for you. The writer of 3 John demonstrates God’s affection, care and concern for all to prosper. Usually, when we think of the word “prosper,” we think of money, success, wealth, and prosperity. The word “prosper” in this scripture refers to a state of mind and a state of being. In other words, to prosper means to have enjoyment and happiness in balance with other things.
God’s desire is that we have equal balance.
It is possible to be spiritually healthy and physically sick. It is also possible to be financially ill and physically well. The message is clear in this scripture – God has wishes for you! God wishes that you display excellence and balance in all areas of your life. Not just spiritually, but physically, financially, mentally, etc. We must nourish ourselves, exercise, rest, and embrace the disciplines that will grow us and help us to gain new strength. A balanced life is a happy and healthy life, a life that honors God. Believe! Wishes can come true!!
